The moment you stepped into that transformed room, it was like stepping into a fairy tale. The tables were adorned with flowers and the atmosphere alive with anticipation. It was a night out, yes, but it was so much more than that.

But let me tell you, the highlight of the evening was when one of our incredibly brave clients took the stage. As she confidently strode across the platform, a collective hush swept over the audience. You could feel the electricity in the air, the palpable sense that something extraordinary was about to happen.

She stood there, poised and unyielding, and began to share her story. She spoke of her life before pregnancy, the twists and turns that had sent her world spiraling, and the unexpected journey of carrying a child. Her words resonated with every soul in that room, weaving a tapestry of empathy and understanding.

And then, the moment that tugged at heartstrings and brought tears to every eye – they brought out her little boy. He was a living testament to strength, resilience, and the unwavering support that the Pregnancy Center provides. The room filled with the softest of gasps, followed by a profound silence, as if time itself had paused to honor this incredible journey.

Not a single dry eye remained in that house. People were moved, not just emotionally, but to act. It was like a ripple effect of compassion and generosity. Donations poured in, a testament to the profound impact of one woman’s courage and the unwavering mission of the Pregnancy Center.

That night, we didn’t just witness an elegant gala; we witnessed the power of storytelling, the strength of community, and the boundless love that can be inspired by the smallest of lives. It’s a night that will be etched in our hearts for a very long time.

Lesson of the story? Stories that resonate move the heart to action.

How can your non-profit put this powerful tool to use?

1. Tell your client’s stories. Getting your client to video their story will allow you to repurpose the video in so many ways. You can use the whole she-bang on your website or a social media post. Or you can use the transcript by using special statements on a social media graphic. Create short video snippets from the longer version to post on social media.

2. Tell your non-profit’s stories. Video behind-the-scenes day-to-day activities. Video the journey a client would go through when first coming in. Video special events. All of these work together to build your story.
